We are two best friends who are lucky enough to live in the same city. For the first four years we lived less than a mile away from each other and even then struggled to find the time to see each other on a regular basis. Between; family, careers, and the long list of important things that need to get done, girlfriend time was not something we were prioritizing, and we weren't alone. Being a woman today has so many challenges and it became clear, that if we lean on each other, we're going to be much stronger women, better mothers, truer girlfriends and simply happier humans.
The podcast was born because we needed a reason to get together and do exactly what we love to do, when we do. Catch up on everything from pop culture, life, and juicy topics that you would only talk about with your girls. Our goal is that our conversation makes you feel like you are sitting with your two best friends, sharing a bottle of wine and just having a good time. Even if it is for only 45 minutes a week during your commute to work. We want to fill in the gap when life doesn't otherwise allow for us to get together in person.
To say we've come a long way is an understatement. We listen back to our first few recordings and laugh at ourselves. Although our topics were relatable to most women, we talk too fast, ramble on about nonsense, cuss a lot (that hasn't really changed) and the sound quality was embarrassing... we've come so far. But seriously, if we hadn't at least started somewhere, we'd never be where we are now. This past year, we are closer than ever and because of all of our loyal listeners, we have grown our brand to a digital platform with this blog and now throwing experiential parties to give our girlfriends the perfect excuses to get together.
This past year, we've laughed more than we ever have. Some of the funniest moments together was our girls trip to Albuquerque, where we met, and the multiple times we deleted a newly recorded episode because we had no clue what we were doing. The Confessions segment continues to be one of the best parts of the podcast each week, thanks to all those anonymous secrets you share with us. How can we forget the unforgettable confession Marisela re-enacted at The DM Lounge event. Yes friends, she showed us how she attempted to stop peeing her pants in a department store. lol. Our DM Topic is here to stay because this is where we enjoy those true honest and sometimes controversial conversations that are okay to have, even if we're all disagreeing. Because in the end, we all grow from hearing others perspective. Sometimes, in fact, we've changed our minds after hearing what the other thinks.
A highlight of our year was the inaugural launch of The DM Lounge Events. We gathered 50 women in the gorgeous Bottiglia with an amazing wine partner, The Vine Yard AND we gave away more than $2500 worth of giveaways.
This year we are challenging ourselves to create content that you love. This always lead us back to our 3 founding values: Girlfriends, Conversations and Experiences. That's when our vision became clearer than ever. The DM Show is... ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Established by Girlfriends
It doesn’t seem to matter what you do with your girls — you’re guaranteed to have a good time. We encourage women to connect, make plans, drink wine and laugh.
Encouraged by Conversations
The Podcast covers female topics; pop culture, confessions and everything in your DMs. We’re inspiring women to open the door to real conversations. Most times we laugh and sometime we cringe, but it’s honest, real and lots of fun.
Strengthened by Experiences
We believe that even in this age of digital friends, true connections are still made in person.
These are the things that fuel us and we are committed to bringing you more of. More connections with diverse women, more female related conversations and more fun experiential parties!
We are so grateful for all of you who have been a part of this years journey. We can't forget to thank our men too, they've supported us tremendously. Cheering us on in the background and watching our babies while we got out for our 'girlfriend time disguised as work'. Please help us kick off year 2 by following us on instagram @thedm.show & sharing The DM Show podcast with all your girlfriends!
